I use an integrated approach based predominantly on the Gottman Method when working with couples. This method focusses on helping couples rebuild/strengthen the relationship using research-based interventions.
Session 1: Session one is a “get to know you” session. We will discuss your reasons for seeking out therapy, your history as a couple, and identify areas that you want to work on. You may be asked to discuss a conflict for a few minutes in order for me to witness your communication style and interactions. At the end of this session you be asked to complete some questionnaires for the next session
Session 2: Session two will usually be 2 separate sessions scheduled for each person in the couple, i.e. you will each come individually. Here each person will be able to share anything that they did not share in the previous session. This is also when you would hand back your completed questionnaires.
Session 3: We will all come back together and create the treatment plan. This will include setting goals for you as the couple, and a time for me to answer any and all questions you may have. I will also give you feedback on your questionnaires
